Prestige Perfect Pairs

Six Prestige colour duos to inspire your next project

Choosing a colour you love is one thing. Finding the perfect shade to sit alongside it can be a little trickier.

The right pairing can completely change how a room feels. You might layer similar shades for a soft, tonal scheme, balance a statement colour with a quieter neutral, or bring two contrasting colours together to create something with a little more personality.

To give you some inspiration, we’ve paired six of our favourite Prestige colour combinations – and with Test the Bestrunning until 7th September, there couldn’t be a better time to find your two.

SIDE CAR 77 & MULLED WINE 71

Rich, warm and full of character

For a scheme that embraces colour, look to Side Car 77 and Mulled Wine 71.

Side Car 77 brings distinctive jewel-toned gold and green notes, while the depth of Mulled Wine adds richness and drama. Together, they create a warm, enveloping palette that feels luxurious without being overly formal.

Try allowing one shade to lead the room and introducing the other through a feature area, woodwork, cabinetry or furniture. Against natural materials and warm metallic finishes, this pairing can feel particularly striking.

Perfect for: Living rooms, dining rooms and spaces where you want to create atmosphere.

COCO 22 & WYNWOOD 102

A timeless navy meets a warm neutral

There’s a reason navy and neutral work so beautifully together.

Wynwood brings the depth and sophistication of a classic navy, while Coco softens the scheme with its warm, understated neutral tone. Coco gives Wynwood room to make an impact without the overall space feeling too dark or heavy.

For a classic approach, use Coco across the majority of the room and introduce Wynwood on cabinetry, woodwork or a feature wall. Or turn the combination on its head and let Wynwood envelop the space, using Coco to provide moments of contrast.

Perfect for: Kitchens, living rooms, bedrooms and home offices.

CHALKING DEEP 63 & MOVES LIKE JAGGER 72

Soft meets statement

If you love warmer interiors, Chalking Deep and Moves Like Jagger make a beautiful pairing.

Chalking Deep is a soft neutral with a subtle pink undertone, giving it warmth without feeling overtly pink. Pair it with the rich wine tones of Moves Like Jagger and that softness suddenly has something bolder to play against.

The result is warm, layered and a little unexpected.

Use Chalking Deep as your backdrop and bring in Moves Like Jagger where you want to draw the eye – think an alcove, cabinetry, a door or even painted furniture. Alternatively, embrace the richness and use Moves Like Jagger more generously for a cocooning effect.

Perfect for: Bedrooms, sitting rooms and dining spaces.

LAGOON 104 & BLAZE 52

Create depth with a tonal scheme

Not every colour pairing needs contrast.

Choosing shades from a similar colour family is one of the easiest ways to create a considered, layered interior, and Lagoon and Blaze show just how effective a tonal scheme can be.

Lagoon is a soft green-blue, while Blaze takes the scheme deeper with its dark grey-blue tone. The colours feel connected, but there’s enough difference between them to create definition and depth.

Try Lagoon across the walls with Blaze on doors, woodwork or cabinetry. Using the darker shade to highlight architectural details can add interest while maintaining the calm feeling of the overall palette.

Perfect for: Bathrooms, bedrooms, kitchens and spaces where you want a relaxed, tonal feel.

VENICE 88 & CEPPO 15

A naturally balanced combination

Greens and stone shades have an effortless relationship, drawing on colours we naturally see together outdoors.

Venice, a deep green, brings character and colour while Ceppo offers a softer stone-toned counterpoint. Together, they create a scheme that feels grounded, calm and easy to live with.

Pair with natural textures such as timber, linen, stone and woven materials to continue that organic feeling throughout the room.

If you’re nervous about introducing green, this is also a great example of how pairing colour with a familiar neutral can make it feel much more approachable.

Perfect for: Kitchens, living rooms, bedrooms and hallways.

ATELIER WHITE 10 & FIRST EDITION 17

Proof that neutrals don’t have to be flat

A neutral scheme can have just as much depth as one filled with colour – the secret is choosing tones that work together rather than relying on one shade everywhere.

Atelier White is a soft off-white that pairs beautifully with the modern neutral tones of First Edition. The subtle difference between the two creates definition without introducing a strong contrast.

Try using the lighter Atelier White to open up the space, with First Edition adding depth to walls, woodwork or architectural features. The result is quiet, considered and beautifully understated.

It’s an ideal pairing if you want a neutral interior that still feels layered and intentional.

Perfect for: Almost anywhere – particularly open-plan spaces, bedrooms and calm living areas.

HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR PERFECT PAIR

Found a combination you love? Before committing to a full room, always try your colours in the space itself.

Light can dramatically change how a colour appears throughout the day, and the flooring, furniture, fabrics and other finishes already in your room will all influence how your chosen shades feel.

Paint your testers onto a generous area and look at them at different times of day. Most importantly, look at the two colours together. You’re not just choosing two individual shades – you’re choosing the relationship between them.
