Care homes

Care homes have a complex role to fulfil. Not only are they clinically focused, but the ambience has to make residents feel like they are in a place they can truly call home.

The décor of a care home needs to achieve two key elements – it has to be aesthetically pleasing, and also hard-wearing and hygienic. This is where Fleetwood Paints excels, delivering tested and certified ultra-low VOC and low-odour paints that have been proven to improve indoor air quality.

Helping residents feel at home

Colour has been shown to have a major influence on mood and both physical and mental well-being. So finding the right interior colours that promote a relaxing, homely atmosphere is important.

But so are the practical elements of care home interiors, with paints that actively improve the indoor air quality and minimise the spread of bacteria to protect vulnerable residents.

The solution is paints that do not compromise on either aesthetics or practicalities, but instead deliver both.

Fleetwood paints do exactly this, with a huge range of soothing, restful colours that also incorporate cutting-edge hygiene elements such as Silver Ion Technology and active air pollutant elimination suitable for every room.

Beautiful Bedrooms

The bedroom is a resident’s sanctuary, their safe space and where they feel most relaxed and comfortable. Rather than stark, uncompromising colours, Fleetwood paints offer soft pastels, on-trend Pantone colours, and our own Fleetwood Tinting System selection.

Bedroom paint for care homes also has to be functional, with the durability to withstand frequent washing and cleaning.

Paints such as Fleetwood Bio Tec, Fleetwood Trade Vinyl Matt and Fleetwood Advanced are the ideal choice.

Easily washable and resistant to chemical and abrasion attacks, they’re durable, high-opacity paints which will also improve indoor air quality for a healthier, cleaner space.

Relaxed canteens and dining rooms

Care home residents are often vulnerable to illnesses. That’s why communal dining rooms, canteens and food preparation areas must be as hygienic and as clean as possible. They are also high-traffic areas, so the paints used in these areas need to be durable.

Choosing Fleetwood paints such as Advanced keeps odours and VOCs down to a minimum, while also providing a long-lasting, durable finish that can be washed repeatedly with no adverse effects on looks or performance.

Fleetwood Bio Tec advanced-formula paints also inhibit the growth of bacteria and mould to prevent gastrointestinal or respiratory issues among vulnerable residents.

Case Study - Clonattin Nursing Home

This 90-bed nursing home and associated works buildings represented a fascinating project for Fleetwood Paints. With Clonattin Nursing Home, we had to find the right balance between creating a comfortable, homely environment while maintaining hygiene and cleanliness standards. The paints used had to be easily washable and, where possible, have anti-bacterial properties. Working in conjunction with Reddy Architecture & Urbanism and the team at K-Design Studio, Fleetwood created a paint collection that achieved that balance between aesthetic excellence and clinical hygiene.
