Providing Quality

Here at Fleetwood Paints, we are committed to providing you with the best quality paint in the market.

We understand the effects our processes have on the environment and that is why we feel it is vital that we as a business have our environmental impact at the forefront of every decision we make.

BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method for Buildings)

BREEAM is the world’s leading design and assessment method for sustainable buildings.

Paints and varnishes are assessed as part of the indoor air quality criteria. This recognises and encourages a healthy internal environment through the specification and installation of internal finishes that meet the specified criteria for emissions of VOC’s (volatile organic compounds)

Sites Certified In Accordance With The ISO Standard

ISO 14001 is an internationally recognised Standard that defines the requirements for an Environmental Management System.

The Standard promotes a proactive approach to managing environmental issues and was developed by the International Organisation for Standardisation.

We are certified to the latest version of the ISO standards for our Quality Management System ISO9001:2015 and our Environmental Management System ISO 14001:2015

Non Hazardous Solid Waste

Our goal is to reduce non-hazardous solid waste through waste elimination, reuse and recycling.

All incoming packaging waste is segregated and recycled – card and plastic. The amount of produced waste held on site has reduced by 92% in the last 5 years which leaves the plant cleaner and lower risk to the environment.

We have held an Environmental Protection Agency License for 22 years are and categorised as the lower risk category to the environment.

Since 2015 we have been working extremely hard to reduce waste, increase recycling and investigating more efficient and modern treatment options for our wastes.

Creative System Reduces Water Consumption at Virginia Facility

Water is our world’s most valuable natural resource – but it is limited and in need of protection. Our plant in Virginia, co. Cavan, relies on large amounts of water to produce high performance coatings and decorative paints. This is due to required washes of the equipment and work areas to avoid contamination of finished products and also to reduce dust in the environment.

No processed water from the plant is emitted into the environment.

In 2019 we re-used 92% of all production wastewater within the plant. The manufacturing site in its entirety is completely bunded which ensures that every drop of water(including rainwater) leaving the plant is thoroughly treated and inspected to the highest standards which then helps attain the lowest risk rating.

Electricity Consumption

At nearly 80,000 square feet (and growing) our facility in Virginia is always on the lookout for ways to improve energy efficiency. In the past 6 years our electrical consumption has reduced by 19% In 2019 we completed the first of 3 stages in converting the plant in Virginia to LED. These LED fixtures will use 64% less energy than traditional fluorescent lights. The new lighting will need less maintenance and should last longer too; an estimated 10-12 years.

Our dispatch warehouse was part of stage one and the change has been warmly welcomed by staff. We are currently upgrading our outdoor lighting as part of the next phase of this project.

Global Performance

We have minimal fugitive solvent emissions from the plant. The company conducts regular air monitoring to ensure we meet all health and safety and environmental standards. We have planted a wooded area of native deciduous trees, approx 2.1 hectares which acts as a carbon sink We complete regular occupation and environmental noise monitoring to ensure the safety, health and welfare of staff and to minimise disturbance to our neighbours.

Accreditations

We were one of the the first manufacturer in Ireland to be certified with the Ecolabel. The Ecolabel identifies a product or service that are proven to be environmentally preferable overall, within a specific product or service category.

Our cans are also one of the first to carry the Metal Recycles Forever™ mar and our Metal packaging is low carbon and a resource efficient solution as it can be infinitely recycled.

All Ireland Pollinator Plan

In 2023 we have signed up to the All Ireland Pollinator Plan 2021- 2025 road map that aims to help bees, other pollinating insects and our wider biodiversity.
