This 90-bed nursing home and associated works buildings represented a fascinating project for Fleetwood Paints. With Clonattin Nursing Home, we had to find the right balance between creating a comfortable, homely environment while maintaining hygiene and cleanliness standards. The paints used had to be easily washable and, where possible, have anti-bacterial properties. Working in conjunction with Reddy Architecture & Urbanism and the team at K-Design Studio, Fleetwood created a paint collection that achieved that balance between aesthetic excellence and clinical hygiene.

Maintaining strict hygiene standards is of utmost importance in the Leisure industry, particularly in exercise studios and gyms where the health and safety of customers and staff are paramount. While traditional cleaning practices play a vital role, it is equally essential to invest in advanced solutions that provide long-term protection against health threats.
All of these factors, as well as creating an inspiring, motivational and visually pleasing centre were on the wish list for Kilkenny Active Health & Fitness Club when they approached Fleetwood to work with them. This is exactly what Blanchardstown Library in Dublin wanted to achieve when they approached Fleetwood Paints. Their brief was to create a multi-functional space where colour and aesthetics added to the atmosphere while still ensuring maintenance cycles were kept to a manageable level. In certain areas, different requirements demanded a more complex solution, such as toilets, where the importance of cleanliness and a germ-free space was paramount. Colours had to fit in with the library’s existing brand identity, as well as ensuring that this modern space also felt warm, welcoming and inviting for users.
National Museum of Ireland, Dublin
Museums face a myriad of complex issues. These public spaces are not only custodians of precious historical artefacts, but they also have to deal with very high traffic levels all year round. Add to this the fact that they are often housed in heritage buildings that require a very different approach to maintenance and coatings and you have a very challenging brief.
Fortunately, when the prestigious National Museum of Ireland approached Fleetwood Paints, we were more than ready to accept that challenge. Our primary guideline from the client was to deliver a breathable solution for both interior and exterior render which would adhere to and protect the substrate. The key here was to ensure the coatings were breathable. Non-breathable coatings would cause substantial issues, deterioration of the internal and external substrates, and an increased and ultimately costly maintenance cycle.
Kevin Street Garda Station, Dublin
Kevin Street Garda Station is the divisional headquarters for An Garda Siochana. It is located near the heart of Dublin in the south inner city. It was designed by the Office of Public Works (OPW) as a building responding to the specific context of the surrounding area. This site replaced the former station, known as St. Sepulchre’s Palace. It is a large historical site being the former Archbishop of Dublin’s residence. Because of its historical significance as well as the exceptional demands of a Garda station, the variety of challenges presented made this a unique project for Fleetwood Paints.
Momentum Logistics Park
For a large warehousing and logistics facility, there are various requirements when it comes to coatings. Momentum Logistics Park represented an interesting challenge for Fleetwood Coatings, requiring a multi-layered approach from top to bottom – quite literally.
Our brief was to supply flooring, roofing, cladding and corrosion protection for all elements of the complex and, as always, we rose to the challenge. New warehousing and logistics facilities can accommodate requirements of anywhere between 10,000–400,000sq ft, incorporating metal sheeting, galvanized surfaces, and other substrates. The solutions we present need to be capable of coping with all variants.
