We are pleased to announce an opportunity for the role of Credit Control Assistant, to support our Credit Controller in managing customer accounts and maintaining healthy cash flow across the business.

This role plays a key part in ensuring timely payments, accurate account management, and strong relationships with both customers and internal stakeholders. It is well suited to a detail-oriented individual with strong communication skills and an interest in credit control and finance.

Role Overview

The Credit Control Assistant will assist in the day-to-day management of the debtor ledger, supporting credit control processes, monitoring credit limits, chasing overdue invoices, and liaising with internal teams and customers. The role contributes directly to minimising bad debts and maintaining the company’s financial stability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date debtor ledgers for Fleetwood Paints Ltd. and FSW Coatings Ltd.
  • Support the preparation of monthly debtor analysis and management reports.
  • Contact customers regarding overdue payments under the guidance of the Credit Controller, ensuring all correspondence is documented.
  • Monitor credit limits and terms, highlighting any concerns or excesses.
  • Produce and maintain stop lists and aged debt analyses to support debt management.
  • Liaise with Sales, Finance, and other internal teams to resolve queries and support collections.
  • Review customer orders to ensure compliance with agreed credit limits and payment terms.
  • Record receipts, update aged debt analysis, and maintain customer account details in Epicor.
  • Assist with the preparation and distribution of monthly debtor statements and financial reports.
  • Support reconciliation of depot cash sales accounts and processing of depot lodgements.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end processes, including rebate schedules and issuing rebate credits.
  • Carry out additional duties as required to support the Credit Controller and Finance team.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
  • Certificate (or higher) in Business Studies or equivalent experience, with an emphasis on Finance, Accounting, or Credit Control.
  • Experience managing credit control for both small and large customer accounts.
  • Strong IT skills, including experience with finance/accounting systems and Microsoft Office (Excel and Word).
  • Excellent communication and telephone skills, with the ability to maintain positive customer relationships while ensuring timely collections.
  • High level of numerical accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to reconcile complex accounts.
  • Well organised, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Strong collaboration skills, working effectively with Sales, Finance, and Operations teams.
  • Confident and professional when dealing with challenging credit situations.
  • Experience with ERP systems is an advantage.
