The Ultimate Christmas Colour Scheme Guide

Christmas is just a month away. If you’re planning to do a holiday makeover but stuck on which colours to choose, we’ve just made your life easier.

We’ve split three different Christmas tastes into their own unique holiday palettes to help inspire you and impress your guests.

Traditional:

The traditional colour scheme is for those who start decorating for Christmas the moment the clock strikes 12 AM on the first of November. This palette is for the Buddy the Elf enthusiast who cannot contain their Christmas joy.

These colours are as traditional as they get. We recommend pairing these festive hues with an elf on the shelf, reindeer and Santa accessories, and the classic multi-coloured fairy lights to adorn your tree, or your staircase, or your mantle, or all the above.

Icy:

This palette is perfect for those who love the cold days and nights that the winter brings. The Icy palette is curated with blues, silvers, and whites that bring the magic of a snow day indoors (radiator optional).

To keep in theme, we recommend a silver or white Christmas tree adorned with white, blue, and silver baubles. Don’t be afraid to add a bit of silver glitter in there as well! All cool and shiny decor will really amplify the look you are going for. For table decoration, a silver runner down your dining table with pure white plates will tie the look together for your Christmas dinner.

Sugar Plum:

The visions of sugar plums needn’t only be in your head. We love this palette for its warmth and versatility. It’s the perfect colour scheme for saying goodby to autumn while maintaining the rich plums and reds and transitioning them into your Christmas decor.

The Sugar Plum aesthetic is all about straying away from the traditional primary greens and reds of the season in favour of rich red wine and gold hues. To complete this look, we suggest a deep green pine tree with gold garland and deep red and plum coloured baubles. Where our Icy palette called for silver glitter, we suggest gold glitter to keep the warmth of this look festive.

Time is ticking away. Be sure your home is ready for hosting this Christmas with a fresh coat of paint.
