HOW DO I CLEAN MY DECORATING TOOLS?

Always clean paint brushes and rollers immediately after use, otherwise you will have to replace them each time you need to repaint.

PAINT BRUSHES
•Paint brushes that have been used for emulsions and water based paints can be easily cleaned by rinsing in cold water and then washed out in warm soapy water.
• Paint brushes that have been used for gloss and undercoats or any solvent based paint must be first cleaned in white spirits and then washed out in warm soapy water.
• When brush is dry it is a good idea to hold bristles in shape with an elastic band.
• Do not stand paint bristles in a jar of water as the bristles will lose their shape.

PAINT ROLLERS
•Paint rollers that have been used for emulsions and water based paints can be easily cleaned by rinsing in cold water and then washed out in warm soapy water.
• Paint rollers that have been used for gloss and undercoats or any solvent based paint must be first cleaned in white spirits and then washed out in warm soapy water.
• Scrape the roller on the side of the paint tray and then run it over old sheets of newspaper to remove excess paint.
• Remove the roller sleeve and rinse under the tap, squeezing the paint out with your hands until the water runs clear.
• When dry store the roller hanging up to avoid damaging the pile.
